Public University Students to Benefit from 1,000 Google Scholarships, Announces CM Murad.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced the provision of 1,000 Google scholarships for students across 10 public universities in the province. This initiative is part of a broader effort to equip young people with essential skills in Information Technology (IT) that are crucial for securing employment in today’s digital age. The scholarships are intended to empower students with internationally recognized certifications, providing them with the opportunity to thrive in a competitive global market.

Empowering the Youth with IT Skills

During a meeting held at CM House, where the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tech Valley and the universities was signed, CM Murad emphasized the importance of embracing IT. He noted that the wide range of skills and certifications available in the IT sector enables individuals to earn a livelihood from home, highlighting fields such as e-marketing, artificial intelligence, animation, and web design. These skills, according to the Chief Minister, are critical for young people to become self-sufficient and competitive globally.

Google Chromebooks to Enhance Learning in Sindh

The CM was also briefed on the deployment of Google Chromebooks across educational institutions in Sindh, a project launched in collaboration with the Education Department. These Chromebooks are designed to enhance the learning experience with their lightweight build, long battery life, and easy management. Additionally, teacher training has been conducted to ensure effective use of these devices. The introduction of such technology is expected to significantly improve educational outcomes, with a notable example being the Maqsad App—a locally developed educational tool using Google technologies. Students using the Maqsad App saw an impressive 24.3% improvement in test scores within just one month.

Focus on Female Students and Inclusive Growth

The MoU signed between the Universities & Boards Department and Tech Valley will facilitate the distribution of the 1,000 Google Career Certificates scholarships, with half of these scholarships specifically reserved for female students. The program aims to create a more inclusive educational environment, empowering female students to excel in IT. The participating universities include prominent institutions such as NED University of Engineering and Technology, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, and Sindh Madressatul Islam University, among others. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to fostering technological growth and ensuring that the youth of Sindh are equipped to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future.
