A new design for Karachi’s National Bank Stadium has been revealed, as major renovations are set to transform the iconic venue in preparation for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The extensive renovation project is divided into two phases, with the first phase scheduled to be completed before the tournament, while the second phase will be executed following the conclusion of the prestigious event.

A Modern Touch for a Historic Venue

The centerpiece of the new design is a state-of-the-art building to be constructed directly in front of the main stadium. This new structure will offer top-tier amenities, including VIP boxes, a gallery, media boxes, and family boxes for players. Additionally, plans are underway to relocate the two existing dressing rooms to this new building, enhancing the convenience and comfort for the players. These changes aim to elevate the stadium’s status as a world-class cricket venue, capable of hosting international events with top-notch facilities.

PCB’s Vision for Infrastructure Enhancement

The renovation project at National Bank Stadium is part of a broader initiative spearheaded by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under the leadership of Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The PCB has allocated Rs12.80 billion for the enhancement of cricket infrastructure across key cities, including Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. These funds are directed towards modernizing stadiums to meet international standards, ensuring that Pakistan can host global cricketing events with pride.

ICC Champions Trophy: A Grand Stage for Pakistan

The upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025, will see matches hosted across Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and National Bank Stadium in Karachi. Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh make up Group A, while Group B features Australia, England, Afghanistan, and South Africa. In the lead-up to this major event, Pakistan will host Bangladesh for a Test match at Karachi’s stadium later this month.
