Monsoon System to Hit Karachi, Bringing Rain and Relief from Heat
A significant monsoon system is expected to enter the eastern parts of Sindh on the evening of Saturday, July 8, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), as reported by ARY News. The weather department predicts that Karachi will experience its first spell of monsoon rain for the season later today. This much-anticipated rainfall will likely bring some relief from the ongoing heatwave gripping the city.
Karachi Braces for First Monsoon Rains Today
As per the PMD’s forecast, Karachi’s temperature is expected to reach a maximum of 36°C today, with humidity levels as high as 70 percent. The intense combination of heat and humidity has pushed the “feels like” temperature to 38°C, which could potentially rise above 40°C later in the day. Drizzles are anticipated this evening or tonight, signaling the start of monsoon rains in the city.
Thunderstorms and Winds Expected Across Sindh
The hot and humid conditions in Karachi and surrounding regions are likely to continue for the next 24 hours. The monsoon winds are forecasted to bring not only rainfall but also thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning to various districts in Sindh, including Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Dadu, and Jacobabad. Residents are advised to prepare for potential disruptions and ensure safety measures are in place as the weather system progresses across the province.This first monsoon system is a welcome change for Karachiites who have been battling scorching temperatures and high humidity for the past several days.
