Pakistan Welcomes Global Culinary Experts at FoodAg 2024
ISLAMABAD, Aug 9 (APP): Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan praised the diverse continental food offerings of Pakistan and highlighted the fresh perspectives international chefs are bringing to FoodAg 2024. Speaking at the soft launch of the second FoodAg 2024 at a local hotel, Khan emphasized that Pakistan is rapidly adopting new continental recipes, showcasing the country’s openness to global culinary trends. He extended an invitation to the visiting chefs to experience Pakistan’s renowned street food, known for its distinctive flavors.
A Flourishing Global Food Culture
Khan pointed out that the global trend of popular eateries and cafes is reflected in Pakistan’s evolving food culture. He stressed that food serves as a vital medium for cross-cultural understanding and shared experiences. Khan expressed optimism that this international culinary exchange could further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and participating nations. He assured that the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and other supporting teams are committed to offering exceptional hospitality to the visiting chefs.
Insights from International Chefs
South African chef Shaun, speaking at the event, highlighted the valuable learning opportunities presented by FoodAg 2024. He noted that the exhibition would allow chefs to explore diverse ingredients from various cultures, emphasizing food’s profound impact on global societies. Shaun reflected on how Pakistani cuisine has evolved significantly since the 1500s and pointed out variations in ingredients used across different regions and countries. The soft launch event saw participation from TDAP Chief Executive Zubair Motiwala and chefs from Malaysia, South Africa, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Egypt, and other nations.
FoodAg 2024, themed “Growing a Sustainable Future,” is organized by TDAP and will be held at the EXPO Center Karachi from August 9th to 11th. The event aims to unite international and local communities, fostering hope for a shared and sustainable future.
